Srinagar, April 29, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, at least 780 persons have died in different road accidents in the past five years in different parts of the territory. Jammu City witnessed more fatalities as compared to Srinagar city from 2018 to 2022.
Traffic Department data revealed that 229 persons died in different road accidents from 2018 to 2022 in areas falling under the jurisdiction of City Traffic Police Srinagar. The highest number of casualties (53) was witnessed last year.
In areas falling under the jurisdiction of City Traffic Police Jammu, 551 persons were killed in road accidents. The highest number of fatalities (107) was recorded in 2021.
Overall the number of deaths in Jammu and Srinagar cities in the past five year was 780 while 8,151 persons sustained injuries.
The data reveals that 6,585 persons were injured due to the road accidents in Jammu in the last five years as compared to 1,776 in Srinagar.
