Islamabad, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister for Power Khurrum Dastagir Khan informed the National Assembly that 21,500 megawatt of electricity was produced on Monday, which is more than our demand. He was responding to a calling attention notice moved by Ms Aliya Kamran and others regarding unannounced power load-shedding in Balochistan.
The Minister said government believes in providing electricity to all the provinces without any discrimination. He said there is a zero load-shedding on feeders with 80 percent recovery and less losses. He expressed the commitment to provide maximum electricity to Balochistan.
He also urged members of the House to convey the concerned quarters if they find any unscheduled load-shedding. He said directions have already been given to the distribution companies that electricity should not be disrupted on technical grounds.
He, however, said the government is facing resources’ constraints in provision of uninterrupted electricity due to mismanagement of the previous government. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has announced to investigate the undue favour and facilitation extended to Bahria Town on the behest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his cronies.
Speaking on floor of the National Assembly today, he said around 150 million pounds had been remitted to Pakistan as a fine by the National Crown Agency of the United Kingdom. The Minister said we will also take up this matter with the British Authorities.
The Minister said the decision about the Leader of the Opposition and the chairman of Public Accounts Committee will be decided in a couple of days. He said the tradition to declare political opponents as traitors should be stopped. The House will now meet on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
