  • IPO-Pakistan Chair Underscores Importance of Strong IP System for Economic Advancement


    Karachi: Ambassador (R) Farukh Amil, Chair of IPO-Pakistan, emphasized the crucial role of a robust intellectual property system in fostering economic growth, attracting investments, and safeguarding innovations in strategic technologies during a meeting with Ambassador (Retd) Qazi M Khalilullah, Executive Director of the Center for International Strategic Studies Sindh.



    According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussion highlighted the necessity of effective intellectual property management for national economic and security interests. Ambassador Amil pointed out the growing importance of intellectual property protection in key areas such as telecommunications, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.



    Ambassador Khalilullah expressed a keen interest in enhancing cooperation between CISSS and IPO-Pakistan to strengthen intellectual property regimes and boost research and development in strategic technologies. He noted that such collaborative efforts would be pivotal in identifying and protecting innovations, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s economic stability and national security.

  • Sindh Governor to Fund Google Certification Fees for IT Students


    Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori announced a new initiative to cover Google certification fees for IT students, aiming to enhance their opportunities in the global online business market. This announcement was made during a session with IT students after a detailed discussion with Pakistan’s Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan.



    According to Sindh Governor House, the governor emphasized the significant potential for students to earn substantial incomes online once certified by Google. This initiative is part of a broader effort to bolster IT education and employability among youth in the region. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, who had earlier met with Governor Tesori to discuss constitutional support and government affairs, praised the initiative during his visit to the IT marquee, Hope Bell, where he also inspected educational and relief efforts.



    The program is designed to empower students by providing them with essential tools and credentials to compete in the lucrative field of online business, aligning with broader strategies to tackle economic challenges through technological advancement.

    Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with its liaison offices in Karachi and Lahore, has introduced a new service to facilitate document attestation via courier, simplifying the process for Apostille Attestation for applicants across major cities.



    According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, TCS, Gerry’s, ECS, Leopards, and M and P are the designated courier companies authorized to operate Apostille Collection Points in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. These companies are equipped to handle all document types for attestation, except for Power of Attorney. This initiative aims to streamline the attestation process, making it more accessible and efficient for individuals needing to authenticate documents for international use.

    Birmingham: A newly elected British lawmaker has vowed to champion the cause of self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir both within and outside the British Parliament. This pledge was made during a significant event commemorating Kashmir Martyrs Day in Birmingham.

    According to Kashmir Media Service, Independent MP Ayoub Khan, who recently secured a parliamentary seat, emphasized that his support for Kashmir transcends traditional political boundaries as he is not affiliated with any major party. “Our fight for Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir has to capture the minds of the fair-minded public. That is important,” Khan stated. He also noted the strategic timing of raising such issues in the House of Commons and acknowledged the historical role of the UK in the partition of 1947 and its ongoing consequences. During the event, Khan also recognized the efforts of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK President Fahim Kayani in galvanizing support among British lawmakers for the Kashmiri cause.
