Jammu, Leaders and activists from approximately 20 political parties convened in Jammu for a protest demonstration, advocating for the protection of the status, rights, culture, and heritage of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). This assembly marks a significant collective stance against the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in India, particularly concerning the region’s autonomy and cultural identity.
According to Kashmir Media Service, prior to the protest, a meeting was held involving representatives of the 20 parties, including political figures, social activists, and intellectuals. The meeting’s agenda focused on several key issues, such as the restoration of full statehood, protection under Article 371, preservation of Dogra culture and heritage, and the removal of toll plazas within the territory.
Other demands raised during the meeting included granting official status to the Punjabi language and regularization of temporary employees and daily wage earners. These issues garnered unanimous support from the leaders present, who resolved to continue their collective advocacy and develop a strategic roadmap for their cause.
Prominent attendees at the event included Dogra Sadar Sabha president Gulchan Singh Charak, Harsh Dev Singh, Dogra Swabhiman Sabha’s Vajant Pathania, HR Sharma from IDP, Professor Hari Om, Pritam Singh from the Aam Aadmi Party, and social activist Anna Durnai. Additionally, leaders such as Riya Kaluria, Sukhdev Singh, Sahid Salim, Tajinder Singh, Sunny Kant, and Joginder Singh participated and shared their perspectives.
During the demonstration, participants carried placards echoing their demands and emphasized the need for further unified meetings to effectively address the challenges faced by IIOJK. This event represents a significant step in the collective efforts to safeguard the region’s unique cultural identity and political rights under the current Indian administration.
