Islamabad: Police have arrested 17 individuals involved in various criminal activities, including drug peddling and the possession of illegal weapons. The arrests were part of a larger operation that also saw the recovery of drugs and weapons from the detainees.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation was carried out by teams from the Bani Gala, Khana, Shamas Colony, Ramna, and Secretariat police stations. The police have taken legal action against the accused, which resulted in the apprehension of eight individuals for drug peddling. The authorities seized 2,291 grams of heroin, 30 liters of liquor, a pistol, and a rifle with ammunition from those involved. Additionally, nine absconders were also apprehended in the last 24 hours.
Senior police officers stated that the Islamabad Police are actively working to ensure the safety of citizens and their property in the federal capital. They emphasized that no elements will be allowed to disrupt the peace of the citizens. The protection of lives, property, and dignity of the citizens remains the top priority for the Islamabad Police, they added.
Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the relevant police station, the emergency helpline “Pukar-15,” or the “ICT 15” app. The police believe that cooperation between the police and the public is essential to making the city crime-free.
