New Delhi, July 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Indian government has revealed that 116 complaints of human rights violations by the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force have been received since 2017.
The Indian Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt in the details provided in Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, said there were 108 complaints received against the Army while the number in the IAF was eight. There was no case of human rights violation reported against the Indian Navy during the period from 2017 to 2022, he said.
As per the details, the number of complaints of human rights violations against the Army was 29 in 2017, 42 in 2018 and 26 in 2019 while the Army faced seven such complaints in 2020 and four in 2021. The Indian Air Force faced one complaint in 2017 and another in 2019. There were three complaints each against the IAF in 2021 and 2022, Ajjay Bhatt said.
