Islamabad: A recent survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan has revealed that one in three Pakistanis, amounting to 33%, reported having consumed soft drinks over the past year. Despite the significant consumption rate, the majority of these consumers, about 69%, indicated that they indulge in soft drinks only occasionally or rarely.
The survey, which targeted a nationally representative sample of adult men and women from urban and rural areas across Pakistan, highlighted that the youth demographic, particularly those under the age of 30, is the most frequent consumer of these beverages.
The data was gathered through telephonic surveys, employing the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) methodology. The survey was conducted over a two-week period in April 2025 and involved 724 participants from all four provinces of Pakistan.
The survey’s findings show that while 33% of respondents confirmed their consumption of soft drinks, 59% denied consuming them, and 8% either did not know or chose not to respond. The error margin for the study is estimated to be between ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level.
This survey, released by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, provides insight into the consumption patterns of soft drinks within the country, with a notable emphasis on the habits of the younger population.
