Karachi: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has directed Cyno Sindh, a division of Shanghai Electric, to prioritize the employment of local residents in its operations at Thar Block-I. The directive comes amid concerns expressed by local political, social, and community figures regarding employment opportunities for local people.
According to Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the minister held a meeting with the CEO of Cyno Sindh, Meng, to discuss the issue. The meeting, attended by Secretary Energy Musaddiq Ahmed Khan, emphasized the importance of integrating local labor into various sectors of the company’s operations, including gardening, security, sanitation, dewatering, pumping sanitation, and maintenance of the solar plant.
Minister Shah reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to providing employment to local residents, aligning with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He highlighted the chairman’s specific instructions to economically empower local women and other community members through employment and micro-financing initiatives.
Furthermore, the minister stressed the need for Cyno Sindh to ensure the health and safety of its local workforce. In response, the CEO of Cyno Sindh assured Minister Shah of the company’s cooperation and commitment to addressing these concerns.
