Islamabad: Pakistan has made the decision to formally inform the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) of recent developments in South Asia that it considers threatening to regional and global peace. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this move, focusing on concerns about India’s actions in the region.
Pakistan plans to highlight what it describes as India’s aggressive actions and repeated provocations. It will argue that these actions, coupled with what it terms India’s inflammatory rhetoric, pose a significant threat to stability in South Asia and beyond.
In particular, Pakistan intends to draw attention to what it views as India’s unlawful and unilateral attempt to put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance. The treaty, which governs water-sharing between the two nations, is considered a critical international agreement. Pakistan asserts that India’s actions represent a clear violation of its international obligations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Pakistan will call upon the UNSC to uphold its primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security. Pakistan seeks appropriate measures from the council to address the issues it has raised, urging a resolution to these concerning developments.
