Moscow: The 11th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism took place in Moscow, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to tackle the growing threat of international terrorism. The meeting, held on April 22, 2025, was co-led by Pakistan’s Special Secretary (United Nations) Nabeel Munir and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.
During the discussions, the two sides exchanged views on the global and regional terrorism landscape, focusing on the threats emanating from Afghanistan and its neighboring regions. The dialogue highlighted the transnational nature of terrorism, emphasizing the urgent need for adaptive and cooperative strategies to counteract these threats.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation in addressing the challenges posed by terrorist groups. Both parties recognized that collective efforts are essential to preserving regional and global stability.
The next meeting of the Joint Working Group is scheduled to take place in 2026, as both nations continue to solidify their collaborative efforts in counter-terrorism.
