Mumbai: A Muslim man’s house was demolished in Maharashtra after being accused of shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” during a high-profile cricket match between India and Pakistan.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred during the Champions Trophy match on February 23 in Dubai, which saw India claim victory. The accusations were made by a local, alleging that the businessman and his family shouted anti-India slogans.
Indian media reported that the Malvan Municipal Council proceeded to demolish the family’s home following the incident. The businessman, his wife, and their 15-year-old son were named in the complaint, leading to their arrest by local authorities. They were subsequently released on bail.
The situation intensified when locals expressed their outrage and called for action against the family. Shiv Sena state assembly member Nilesh Rana took a strong stance on the matter, which led to the council’s decision to bulldoze the house.
The incident has sparked debate and raised questions about the legal and social implications of the council’s actions and the response from the community.
