Islamabad: The people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing intensified human rights abuses as they continue to endure relentless brutality under Indian occupation.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Indian forces’ ongoing oppression has plunged the region into despair, with violence, arbitrary arrests, and torture becoming widespread.
Since India revoked Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019, the area has become the world’s most militarized region, transforming into an open-air prison defined by bloodshed and fear. The occupying forces are violating basic rights at an alarming rate.
A report by Kashmir Media Service reveals that since 1989, 96,408 Kashmiris have been killed by Indian forces. In January 2025 alone, 11 people were killed and 37 detained. The local population lives in constant fear due to the ongoing violence and repression.
The Indian government’s use of laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) is aimed at silencing political dissent and stripping Kashmiris of their freedoms, leading to a systematic breakdown of human rights.
The international community’s silence on these issues emboldens the Indian government, exacerbating the conflict linked to the unresolved Kashmir dispute. Despite the immense suffering, Kashmiris continue their struggle for justice and self-determination, seeking accountability for the actions of Indian forces.
