Srinagar: As International Women’s Day is observed globally on March 8, Kashmiri women in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to face significant hardships at the hands of Indian troops, police, and agencies.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a report released by its Research Section highlights the ongoing impact of Indian state actions on women in the region. Since January 2001, 688 women have reportedly been killed by Indian forces. The report also notes that since January 1989, 22,981 women have been widowed, and 11,266 have faced molestation or disgrace by Indian troops.
The report underscores the persistent challenges and suffering faced by Kashmiri women amid the ongoing conflict in the region. As the world marks International Women’s Day, these figures serve as a stark reminder of the harsh realities endured by women in IIOJK.
