Karra Accuses BJP of Betraying People on IIOJK Statehood, Pledges to Escalate Struggle

Jammu: The President of the Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Tariq Hameed Karra, has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly using deceitful tactics concerning the restoration of statehood. Karra emphasized that the restoration is a legitimate right of the people in the region.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Karra addressed a large rally in Reasi as part of the “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” campaign. He warned that the BJP-led Indian government is intentionally delaying the process to deny IIOJK residents their rightful status. Karra declared that if the BJP continues its current policies, the Congress will resort to street protests.

Karra asserted that statehood is a fundamental democratic right for every IIOJK citizen, and its denial violates democratic principles. He promised to intensify the ongoing movement until demands are met.

Karra assured the rally attendees that Congress is determined to see the movement through to its conclusion. He noted that the campaign has mobilized public support and revealed the BJP’s reluctance to address regional concerns. Karra also warned against the BJP’s divisive politics, accusing the party of inciting communal and regional discord to distract from key public issues. He criticized the BJP for neglecting problems like unemployment and inflation.

Karra urged the IIOJK populace to remain united and engaged in the struggle for their rights. He highlighted that restoring statehood is a matter of dignity and self-respect for the territory’s people.
