Islamabad Police Arrest 23 in Anti-Crime Sweep, Seize Drugs and Weapons

ISLAMABAD: In a series of coordinated operations, the Islamabad Police have arrested 23 individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities, recovering a significant stash of drugs and weapons. The operations, conducted by various police station teams across the federal capital, underscore the police’s ongoing commitment to curbing crime in the region.

The operations, carried out by teams from the Sangjani, Shamas Colony, Khanna, Koral, Kirpa, Sihala, Humak, Lohi Bher, Phulgran, and Bani Gala police stations, led to the arrest of 19 individuals. The police seized 10,428 grams of heroin, 3,278 grams of hashish, 564 grams of ice, six Kalashnikovs, one rifle, and one pistol from those apprehended.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals, with further investigations currently underway. Additionally, a special campaign targeting proclaimed offenders and absconders resulted in the arrest of four more criminals.

Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, emphasized the force’s dedication to maintaining peace and order in the capital, stating that the crackdown on crime and criminal elements remains a top priority.

The Islamabad Police have reiterated their commitment to protecting residents’ lives and property, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities. Residents are encouraged to use the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” to assist in the police’s efforts to eradicate crime through public cooperation.
