Islamabad Police Appoints First Female SHO in Historic Move

Islamabad: In a groundbreaking development for law enforcement in the capital, the Islamabad Police has appointed its first female Station House Officer (SHO) in a general police station. Sub-Inspector Misbah Shehbaz has taken on the role of SHO at Police Station Phulgran, marking a historic moment for the department.

This appointment is a significant step toward addressing gender discrimination within the force, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq. The initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate more female officers into leadership positions within the police.

In addition to Shehbaz’s appointment, six other police stations in Islamabad have seen new SHOs take charge. These include Alamgir Khan at Koral Police Station, Zahid Hussain at Nilore Police Station, Shahnawaz Dogar at Shams Colony Police Station, and Basreen Akhtar at the Women Police Station.

The changes come in the wake of disciplinary actions taken against the SHOs of Koral, Phulgran, Shams Colony, and Lohi Bher police stations, who have been suspended for poor performance in crime control. They have been ordered to report to Rescue-15, further emphasizing the police department’s commitment to accountability and efficient service.
