Government Lowers Petroleum Prices Amid Economic Adjustments

Islamabad: The government has announced a reduction in petroleum prices for the next fortnight, providing a slight relief to consumers. Petrol, high-speed diesel, superior kerosene oil, and light diesel oil have all seen price cuts, effective immediately.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the price of petrol has been decreased by one rupee per liter, setting the new price at 256.13 rupees per liter. This adjustment is part of the government’s routine revisions aimed at responding to international market trends and domestic economic conditions.

High-speed diesel will now cost 263.95 rupees per liter, reflecting a reduction of four rupees per liter from its previous price. The government has also reduced the price of superior kerosene oil by 3.20 rupees per liter, bringing it down to 171.65 rupees per liter.

Light diesel oil experienced the most significant decrease, with prices slashed by 5.25 rupees per liter, now priced at 155.81 rupees per liter. These adjustments are expected to impact various sectors, including transportation and manufacturing, which rely heavily on these fuels.

The revised prices are part of a regular review process conducted by the finance division to align local fuel prices with international fluctuations and economic strategies.
