Government Crafts Plan to Engage Overseas Pakistanis in Development: Iqbal

London: The Pakistani government is formulating a comprehensive strategy to involve overseas Pakistanis in the nation’s development, according to Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal. During a meeting with the Pakistani Kashmiri diaspora in the United Kingdom, Iqbal outlined the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative’s objectives, emphasizing sustainable progress and increased exports.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Iqbal highlighted the necessity of stable policies, drawing parallels with China’s economic trajectory over the past four decades. The ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative aims to boost exports to 100 billion dollars by 2029 and integrate advanced technology to address climate challenges.

Iqbal urged overseas Pakistanis to invest in higher education and modern skills, noting their contributions are vital for Pakistan’s stability and growth. The government plans to utilize digital platforms to engage this demographic in national development activities.

He further explained that enhancing exports will not only fortify the economy but also generate employment, promote women’s economic empowerment, and bolster resilience to climate-related issues.
