Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has issued a strong condemnation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s efforts to impose a Hindutva agenda aimed at eroding the cultural and religious identity of Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas criticized a recent fashion show held in Gulmarg, Baramulla district, during the month of Ramazan. He described the event as an affront to the faith and cultural identity of the Kashmiri people.
Minhas emphasized that such events are inconsistent with the traditions of Kashmir, which is renowned for its religious scholarship and cultural richness. He called for accountability for those responsible and stated that obscenity, under the guise of promoting tourism, would not be tolerated.
The APHC spokesperson called on the Kashmiri people to resist attempts by the BJP-led government to undermine the political, cultural, and religious identity of the region. He accused the Indian government of altering the demographics of the territory and enforcing cultural changes aggressively.
The spokesperson further claimed that those involved in these actions enjoy immunity under laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, pointing to significant issues of accountability and justice within the region.
